Shield documentation: codex
Shield documentation: codex is part of Shield, a privacy workflow that detects and masks possible personal data and secrets before sharing, then supports evidence and tracked action. The feature combines local checks with optional entitled cloud workflows.
Detect, review, redact, and document
Shield combines masked findings, explainable policies, verified transformations, and account-scoped evidence so each decision remains reviewable.
Useful protection before account creation
Basic text detection and redaction run on the device through the Shield package. Raw local scan content is not sent to Shield Cloud.
Advanced workflows with annual entitlement
Contextual analysis, OCR, advanced PDF/XLSX processing, audit reports, professional workspaces, privacy requests, monitoring, and synchronization use Shield Cloud.
Before you start
Does local scanning require an account?
No. Basic local text scanning and redaction work without an account.
Does MCP intercept every prompt?
No. Coverage depends on the client and is reported in the compatibility matrix.
How is paid access billed?
Public paid plans are annual. A monthly equivalent may be shown only as a comparison.
